Nearly everyone attended, although many guests agreed it was a tedious waste of time, and they were not to be blamed for their restlessness. They could not help but text each other, chat with Novel's relations sitting nearby, or stare wistfully into space throughout the lengthy service.
Pastor Scripture began the service, reliving the long and complicated relationship he had shared with Novel. His heavy set jaw moved back and forth, keeping a rhythm with the gentle snores of the audience. His light, paper pale skin nearly crinkled as he reminisced on Novel's younger days, and his bright blue eyes darted back and forth as he skirted around the recent years when his relationship with Novel had diminished nearly to the point of being non-existent. His aged voice had retained much of its former strength, but in the humid heat, few people were able to resist the urge to sleep.
Next, Madame Drama rose to sing. Her florescent pink gown forced the attention of the audience as they woke from the pastor's sermon. She spoke of a brilliant life, but left little to the imagination. As Madam Drama sang, several members of the audience were moved to tears in remembering Novel's passing. The others were bored. DVD and TV, Novel's great-grandchildren, and Madame Drama's sons, were getting bored. Though the ceremony had just begun, they felt they hadn't moved in ages. Besides, they couldn't see what all the fuss was about- They had places to go, things to see, and they were BORED.
Note: Well, here is a bit of a story I was working on. I'm certainly not finished, and it needs a lot of work, but it it is just a little rambling. We'll see if I can make it just a tad bit more humorous and much less preachy. Also, I guess it would be better if I could come up with an ending to the story. Who knows where this might go?
